We’ve had a busy couple of weeks in the first month back of the semester with even bigger and better plans for the months to come! We started off with a really successful stall at Refreshers Fair where we got to spread the Mary’s Meals message around campus and we are delighted to welcome our new members to GUMM.
We’d like to thank the Earth Sciences and Geography Societies who kindly partnered with us for their big GUU Ceilidh at the start of the year, with the proceeds from the raffle going to Mary’s Meals. Not only did we have a great night at the ceilidh, we also managed to raise a load of money to continue to support all the children around the world who depend on the promise of a daily meal in a place of education – and it wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of all our friends and supporters.
The end of January saw some record-breaking fundraising for GUMM with our most successful bake sale ever! Braving the bitter winds, and with the help of some warming coffees kindly gifted by the QMU staff, we sold out by the end of the day and raised nearly £100 in the process. We really cannot say thank you enough to the people who stop for a chat, pick up a flyer and throw in a couple of coins – none of our successes would be possible without the amazing Glasgow Uni community who never fail to support us.
